Following in the footsteps of Gabrielle Cirulli, who released 2048 as a free and open source software, here is a dedicated Firefox add-on that brings the addictive sliding block puzzle directly to your browser sidebar.

Described by The Wall Street Journal as “Candy Crush for Math geeks”, 2048 has become a global phenomenon. I decided to port this game as a lightweight Firefox extension to allow users to play it seamlessly while browsing without needing to navigate to a separate website.
Key Features
- Sidebar Integration: Play directly in your Firefox sidebar without losing your current page.
- State Persistence: Your game state is automatically saved, so you can pick up exactly where you left off.
- Lightweight & Fast: Minimalist design ensures it doesn’t slow down your browsing experience.
- Keyboard Support: Fully playable with arrow keys, just like the original.
Why I Built This
Initially, I found myself opening a new tab just to play a quick round of 2048 between tasks. I realized that having it a click away in the browser UI would be much more convenient. This project allowed me to explore the Firefox Add-on SDK and understand how to bundle a web-based game into a browser extension context.
